The Tonga rugby league team is under more pressure than ever. The teams led by Christian Wolff are aiming to build on his well-known World Cup breakthrough and leave their own distinct mark on rugby league history.

After victories over Samoa and New Zealand in 2017, they moved one step closer to the World Cup final thanks to the exits of Jason Taumarolo, Andrew Fifita, and Shiosiua Taukeiaho.

Tonga rejoined the international rugby league in June 2022 after defeating New Zealand in Auckland by a score of 26-6.

Cook Islands RLWC Preview:

The Cook Islands will return to the Rugby League World Cup after a nine-year absence, hoping to get past the opening round of group play for the first time ever.

At the start of the year, the Cook Islands played an international match against Samoa in Campbelltown and lost the match with a score of 42-12. In 2013, they won the match against Wales but lost both matches to Tonga and the United States.
