Twenty years after one of the best times for Welsh rugby league, the Dragons are getting ready to host the World Cup in their own country.
Their first game, in Leigh, against the Cook Islands, will be a tough test. Their next two games, against Tonga and Papua New Guinea, will be even harder.
In June 2018, they played their first international since then, losing to France 34-10 in Albi.
Since the year 2000, they have not made it out of the group stage in the World Cup.

After a nine-year hiatus, the Cook Islands will compete in the Rugby League World Cup again, with the goal of making it out of the first round of pool play for the very first time in their history.
The Kukis' most recent international match occurred earlier this year against the Samoans in Campbelltown, when they were defeated by a score of 42-12. In 2013, they won over Wales but lost to Tonga and the U.S.
This year, they will begin their schedule in Leigh against Wales, then travel to Warrington to take on Papua New Guinea, and finish in Middlesbrough against Tonga. Their match with the Welsh looks like the easiest to win, but they'll also need to beat either Papua New Guinea or Tonga if they want to advance out of their group.
