Why are there just two games in the 2023 Bledisloe Cup?

The decision to reduce the annual Bledisloe Cup from three games to two in February 2022 emerged as a result of Australia's prolonged series of disappointing performances, mutually agreed upon by Rugby Australia's leader, Andy Marinos.

Marinos explained that despite our countless confrontations, we have yet to taste victory. However, it's crucial to understand that our failure stems not from evading success but from recognizing the value of temporarily stepping back. By embracing a hiatus, we can open ourselves up to novel prospects by engaging with other countries in fierce competition.
